Disaster Preparedness

Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere. When disaster strikes, you may not have much time to respond. A highway spill of hazardous materials could mean instant evacuation. A winter storm could confine your family at home. An earthquake, flood, tornado, or any other disaster could cut off basic services (gas, water, electric, telephones) for days. How prepared are you to deal with a disaster?

The American Red Cross recommends having a pre-made kit available for you and your family in the event of a disaster. Some of the items in this kit include:

· Water

· Food

· First Aid Kit

· Non-Prescription Drugs

· Hygiene Items

· Clothing and Bedding

· Tools and Supplies

· Other Special Items

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Family Protection Program and the American Red Cross Disaster Education Program are nationwide efforts to help people prepare for disasters of all types. For more information, please contact:
