Plan Commission
The plan commission is comprised of citizens that are appointed by local government officials. The plan commission is responsible for holding hearings and making decisions about variances, conditional uses, and zoning/rezoning requests, and to suggest updates to the zoning and sign ordinances. The plan commission generally oversees the Department of Planning and Economic Development.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The zoning board of appeals is comprised of citizens that are appointed by local government officials. The zoning board of appeals hears appeals from the decisions of the plan commission and/or zoning administrator when interpretations of the zoning ordinance are involved.
