Police Officer

Application Process:  Applicants will be required to successfully complete:
February 22nd or 23rd – written test. All applicants who receive a 70% or higher on the written test will immediately be participate in the physical agility/scenario testing. (Unofficial College transcripts and medical clearance must be presented at the time of the physical agility test prior to participating in the agility test.) Description of Duties: 

The purpose of the Police Officer is to provide residents and visitors of the City of Marshfield with the highest level of protection and service through the enforcement of municipal, state and federal law.  Duties include:

1) Patrols the City in search of violations, protects property against theft or loss and addresses complaints.

2) Investigates complaints, accidents and thefts; Interviews victims, suspects and witnesses.

3) Completes reports; compiles factual data, evidence and interviews.

4) Appears and testifies in court.

5) Interacts with the public through presentations and programs.

6) Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  U.S citizen; Minimum age-18; Valid drivers license; No felony or domestic abuse convictions; must be certifiable by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standard Board and have a minimum of 60 college credits prior to offer to hire; Ability to pass all tests including; written, scenario based, physical, psychological, and a thorough background investigation.

Compensation:   Starting wage- $46,693 (2013 Rates) per year with step increases to $55,428 (2013 Rates) after 3 years plus excellent benefits.

Residency:  Must be a resident within  the 15 straight-line miles from the nearest City of Marshfield boundary line within 60 days following the completion of a one year probationary period.
