Police Officer

Department:  Police Department

Application Process:  Applicants will be required to successfully complete a written test - Wisconsin Personnel Partners (February 9, 2013), physical agility test and scenario based test, pre-employment psychological and physical including a drug test and panel interview, essay and table top exercise.  College transcripts and medical clearance to participant in the physical agility test are required prior to participating in the agility test.

Description of Duties: 

The purpose of the Police Officer is to provide residents and visitors of the City of Marshfield with the highest level of protection and service through the enforcement of municipal, state and federal law.  Duties include:

1) Patrols the City in search of violations, protects property against theft or loss and addresses complaints.

2) Investigates complaints, accidents and thefts; Interviews victims, suspects and witnesses.

3) Completes reports; compiles factual data, evidence and interviews.

4) Appears and testifies in court.

5) Interacts with the public through presentations and programs.

6) Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  U.S citizen; Minimum age-18; Valid drivers license; No felony or domestic abuse convictions; must be certifiable by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standard Board and have a minimum of 60 college credits prior to offer to hire; Ability to pass all tests including; written, scenario based, physical, psychological, and a thorough background investigation.

Compensation:   Starting wage- $46,693 (2013 Rates) per year with step increases to $55,428 (2013 Rates) after 3 years plus excellent benefits.

Residency:  Must be a resident within 15 mile radius of the City of Marshfield Police Department within 60 days following the completion of a one year probationary period.
