Parks & Recreation
2008 Volunteer of the Year
This year's award was presented to Jim and Sarah Krueger and their family for their efforts in establishing and implementing the Marsh 21 Youth Baseball Tournaments in 2007 and 2008. They also assist the Marshfield Chaparral men's baseball team, American Legion Baseball and Marsh 21.
In 2007, under Jim and Sarah's guidance and direction, with help from their three sons and numerous volunteers, a very successful 3-day youth baseball tournament was held at the Steve J. Miller Recreation Area Youth Baseball fields. The tournament drew many teams and a large number of spectators from around the area and state to Marshfield.
In 2008, Marsh 21, with the leadership and dedication of the Krueger Family, expanded the age levels and decided to offer two tournaments on two consecutive weekends. They were both bigger and better than the first year, and again offered a great deal of quality baseball activity for the many young participants and spectators, in addition to raising funds for the Marsh 21 Steve J. Miller Baseball Field Fund at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation.
Congratulation to Jim, Sarah and the boys and thank you to the many individuals who volunteer each year for the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department.
The award was presented to Jim and Sarah and their three sons at the November 11th Common Council Meeting.
