Death of Madilyne the Wolf
Madilyne, our 15 year old female wolf, died on June 21, 2013. Her health had been declining over the past year. Wolves in the wild rarely live longer than 6 or 7 years. The record for a wolf in captivity is 20 years.
Visit the New Foxes
Shadow and Blizzard are out and about in their new permanent exhibit. They are lots of fun to watch so be sure to visit them soon. Shadow the gray fox arrived at the zoo in May 2012. Blizzard, an Arctic fox, joined Shadow in late July. Their exhibit has been built with help from Wildwood Zoological Society and the Kiwanis Club. The new exhibit is next to the rabbit enclosure.
Baby Bison, Baby Deer, and White Deer
Wildwood Zoo happily welcomed a new baby bison in May 2013. A second baby is expected this summer. Three baby bison were born in 2012.
For the first time in many years the zoo has baby deer! Three fawns were born in May.
A white, white-tailed deer joined the zoo this spring as well. Her name is Independence or Indy in honor of her July 4th birthday. She is not an albino, but a white phased deer.
