Ms. Grizz passed away at Wildwood Zoo on September 21, 2011.

Ms. Grizz

Ms. Grizz passed away on September 21, 2011.  There are no immediate plans to replace her, but the Zoological Society is accepting donations to build a new bear exhibit to hold bears in the future.

Grizzly bears are large omnivores that are endangered throughout much of their range in the United States.  They weigh between 400 and 1,500 pounds and can stand to a height of 8 feet tall (the height of most ceilings in your home).  Grizzlies eat a variety of foods including pine nuts, army cutworm moths, tubers, roots, grasses, rodents, carcasses, moose, deer, big-horned sheet, and caribou.
