2009 Volunteer of the Year
The Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department could not be successful without the many volunteers that help out every year. Over the past eight years the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Committee has recognized an individual for their volunteer service to the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department and the community. Previous winners of the award are John Leick, John Scheuer, Floyd Hamus, Harlan Rose, Dave Tiffany, Dan Umhoefer, Ron Dielmann and Jim and Sarah Krueger & family.
This year's award was presented to Howard Hoffman for his volunteer efforts with youth soccer in Marshfield.
Howard has been volunteering for the Optimist Youth Soccer program since 1999 and some years he coached teams at three different age levels. Howard also volunteers with coordination of soccer clinics, training of coaches, and the training of referees. Last year, Howard was awarded the 2008 Administrator of the Year for the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association.
Congratulations to Howard, and thank you to the many individuals who volunteer each year for the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department.
The award was presented to Howard at the November 24th Common Council meeting.
