Zoo Intern (Seasonal position)


This position assists the staff at the Wildwood Zoo in the care of the animals and the zoo facilities. Gain experience working with professional staff to care for numerous North American animals. Exhibits include elk, whitetail deer, bison, wolf, fox, sandhill cranes, turkey vulture, prairie dog, bald eagle, cougar, Canada lynx, rough-legged hawks, red-tailed hawk, great horned owl, screech owl, peregrine falcon, and waterfowl. The position also allows for an opportunity to be involved with the education programs and special events that are held at the zoo during the summer months.

Pursuit of a degree in captive wildlife, animal husbandry, wildlife, or related field; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary interest, desire, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform in the Zoo Intern position.

Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.

Attire: Safety toe boots and/or shoes required, shorts are permitted, however must have pants immediately available should job duty require.

Work Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday -Friday

Compensation: The wage for the Zoo Intern a minimum of $ 7.75 per hour.
The wage is subject to negotiation depending upon qualifications and experience.
