Meet our Zookeeper

Jerry Jepson joined the Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department as the Zookeeper on July 31, 2006.

Jerry is a longtime native of the Midwest.  He was born in Peoria, IL and grew up in Wisconsin Rapids.  After high school, Jerry spent four years in the United States Air Force.  After the Air Force, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, earning a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife, Game Management.

Jerry has worked at several Midwest zoos before coming to Marshfield.  He has worked with exotic animals, most animals found in the Midwest, and is experienced with a variety of raptors and birds.  He has also had the opportunity to hand-raise a few animals, including American kestrels, wood ducks, badger, beaver, black bear, mountain lions, coyote, opossum, white-tailed deer and bison.  Jerry has been active in rehabilitation of animals since 1978.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoys Musky fishing, fly fishing, kayaking, cross country skiing, and just spending time outdoors.  He is a Chicago Bears AND Green Bay Packers fan! If you ever see Jerry around the zoo feel free to say hi and ask him any questions you may have about our zoo animals!
