All real estate and personal property taxes are due on or before the last day of January. If taxes are not paid by the last day of January, the property owner is declared delinquent and interest is charged at the rate of 1% per month starting with the preceding February 1 for Wood County. Interest is charged at the rate of 1.5% per month starting with the preceding February 1 for Marathon County.
State law does not allow the payment plan after January 31, so if the property owner chooses the two-payment plan; the first payment must be made by January 31 and the second payment must be made to the applicable County Treasurer between February 1 and July 31 to avoid penalty.
